In the first three quarters of 2020, the French consumer market for garden products grew by 4 per cent compared with the same period last year. The figures "show that the Covid-19 pandemic has indirectly had a beneficial effect on our sector," stated the green retailers and manufacturers association Promojardin. With regard to the latest lockdown in France, however, the association anticipates a negative outcome, in part because store departments selling Christmas items and decorations had to close, as did florists' shops.
