The comprehensive range offered by the BMF-Simpson Group today includes made-to-measure timber connectors for practically every type of construction and job. The 2002 anniversary year is reason enough to look back on the development and history of the company, which had its small beginnings in 1952.

Since the emergence of Bill Gates with his uniquely successful Windows product it has been common know-ledge that garages offer apparently ideal conditions for innovative entrepreneurs. Niels Bentsen started up his new business in a garage as well. Here the emphasis was at first on the development and production of special machines for processing wood.
Then Bentsen and his small team developed their universal purlin anchor, with which practically any kind of fixing for timber connectors can be produced quickly and reliably. This laid the foundation for a new programme of products, by means of which the BMF was to achieve its international reputation. Over the course of time it has built up a range of special connector designs, with which the company has geared itself totally to the requirements and areas of application of its different customer groups and timber structures.

The company made a name for itself in the industry as a full service supplier of timber connectors, accessories and equipment for rapid and problem-free mounting. Developed over the course of 50 years is a product programme with more than 1 000 different connector variants that is used everywhere in Europe. Out of the original garage has developed a modern business enterprise, which manufactures quality connectors with a team of around 140 employees on an overall plant area of 16 000 m2.
The year 2001 was yet another very important one for the company and its history. Membership of the American timber connector group Simpson Strong Tie will constitute a sound basis for the decades to come.
