The fair will be open to both trade visitors and the general public. A conscious break is being made here with the tradition of trade fairs for the specialist visitors and consumer fairs for the general public, in the expectation that this exhibition will present individual solutions to the problems of both producers and retailers, and those of DIYers as well.
In addition to the basic display of products (v. product categories in box) there will be informative events for the Italian and international retail sector, plus courses and demonstrations for DIYers.
The new fair will be staged by Expo cts, a company in which Fiera Milano has a 51 per cent stake. The organisers report that the fair is meeting with a positive response among DIY retailers since Bricolare is exploiting a new trend: the target group for home improvement is the family as a whole, and DIY is seen as offering the possibility of creating the home beautiful. Which is exactly what the new event is geared towards. This is evident not least from the dates chosen for Bricolare, which will be held simultaneously with the International Furniture Fair staged in the Rho-Pero exhibition complex.
Bricolare will occupy a space of 15 000 m² in the Portello exhibition halls in the centre of Milan. Fabio Majocchi, managing director of Expo cts, expects around 350 exhibitors at the initial event and an overall attendance figure of 50 000. Trade visitors should account for a share of around 20 per cent.
“We can now say with absolute certainty that our idea of a strong and innovative trade fair like Bricolare will wholly meet the expectations and the needs of the DIY market,” says Fabio Majocchi with complete conviction. The great interest aroused by the event is proven by the high number of visitors to the website (www.bricolare.expocts.it), where further details can be obtained.
