After a long pandemic-related break, the Taiwan International Fastener Show for fastening technology, Fastener Taiwan for short, is finally taking place again. Taking place at the Kaohsiung Exhibition Centre from 3 – 5 May, a total of 283 exhibitors with 835 booths will be represented at the show, which is organised by the Taiwan Bureau of Foreign Trade and jointly run by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) and the Taiwan Industrial Fasteners Institute.
The event is expected to attract more than 10 000 domestic and foreign companies and professionals, making it a leading trade show for global fastening technology. Fastener Taiwan 2023 aims to offer many exciting peripheral events, such as a virtual exhibition, industry forums, sourcing matchmaking events, guided tours and the Manufacturers Win podcast.
A highlight of the show is expected to be the "Global Fastener Industry Forum" on the first day of the show, which will bring together fastener industry association chairmen and industry leaders from the US, Italy and Germany, as well as experts from related fields. They will share insights on the future outlook for the global fastener market, net-zero emissions technology and smart manufacturing. Attendees will be offered an overview of international trends across the fastener industry, including electromobility, medical device and aerospace sectors.
Latest developments
The exhibition will focus on the three main characteristics of Taiwan's fastening technology: High-End, High-Tech and High-Value. It will bring together well-known domestic and foreign industry players such as exhibitors New Best Wire, Wu Jii and Swiss Steel in the new "Materials, Moulds, Tools Area", Zyh Yin, Pro Power, Taiwan Steel Group, Sheh Fung Screws and Lu Chu Shin Yee in the "Nuts, Bolts, and Screws Area", or Jern Yao, Chum Yuan, Tycoons Group and Sacma (Italy) in the "Machinery & Manufacturing Area". The companies' exhibits will cover the entire fastener industry supply chain.
The latest developments in the industry amid global economic and trade turmoil have already been discussed by prominent industry leaders and experts from various sectors at the pre-show press conference in April under the slogan "Where Quality Sets the Pace". There, TAITRA CEO Simon Wang previewed the highlights of this year's exhibition as well as an exciting series of fringe activities. The press conference also provided a platform for exchanges on ways to improve the business climate for the industry, future international development trends in the post-pandemic era and how to respond to geopolitical challenges, global inflation and climate change.
In addition, the impact that the European CO₂ border adjustment system and the US Clean Competition Act (CCA) will have on the industry was discussed. The experts recommended that Taiwan's fastener industry should proactively respond to these new laws and policies, further improve the quality and efficiency of its products and services, and comply with international market standards. Last but not least, manufacturers should continuously integrate automation, intelligence and data collection into the production process to accelerate the industry's transformation. It was advocated that international cooperation should be strengthened, expansion should be made into emerging overseas markets, and new products and services should be developed to improve competitiveness and increase market share.
