REV Ritter has made a name for itself in the DIY retail scene as a manufacturer of electrical products and accessories. The company, which is based in Mömbris, celebrated its 25th anniversary in September. Which is the reason why it has set its sights so high: the group with its workforce of 350 plans to achieve sales of approx. € 46 mio for the year 2003, which amounts to growth of ten per cent. This ambitious goal is to be reached by means of new products, among other things. By means of the “Greencraft” all-round garden series, for example. The first products in this line came on-stream in June, and the last are expected to be on the market by the end of the year. Managing director Frank Ritter expressed his satisfaction that, “Enquiries on the European market are so promising that a French version is also due to be launched in the spring of 2004.” In addition, the exclusive “Space-Beam” series of LED torches was introduced this autumn. As Ritter added, “It is already obvious now, from the existing preliminary contracts, that the launch will be a success.”
A small selection from REV Ritter’s range of products.
In retrospect: Manfred Ritter founded REV Ritter GmbH in 1978. With just five colleagues he began to sell cable reels and door chimes, followed later on by rechargeable torches.
Two years later came the construction of a factory for the production of trailing sockets in Mömbris. This was followed in 1986 by the company’s own plastic injection moulding plant and in 1987 by a cable works. In 1990 came the founding of REV Elektro GmbH in Neuseddin, where nowadays the electronics and tool manufacturing facilities are to be found.
Accosta, a former producer of small appliances, was acquired in 1992. Also in 1992 came the founding of REV Ritter Austria.
Which is the direction to take in future? “For the past five years we have been consistently focusing on the European market, rather than just the national one,” Frank Ritter reported. This process is now nearly complete. Recently REV was awarded the contract after participating in a Europe-wide tender issued by a trading cooperative, coming out on top against more than 20 competitors from all over Europe.
