This is a group that emerged at the end of 2000 from the acquisition of Vynex by Clouterie Française. Vynex laid claim to being market leader in France in the field of fasteners for both DIYers and professionals, and Clouterie Française regarded itself as a leading company in terms of supplying hardware and DIY items to supermarkets and hypermarkets. The group’s spectrum of products today includes fasteners (screws, nails and bolts), miscellaneous hardware lines (including hooks, furniture glides, casters, hinges, knobs, bolts, door handles and angles) as well as other DIY items such as locks, ropes and chains, along with hand tools and adhesives. The packaging solutions offered by Trefilaction are many and varied. There is a choice of skin or blister packs, bags or flat bags, boxes or window cartons, as well as plastic boxes specially developed by the company.“Rocket” is one of the brand names under which these products are distributed. This was originally the name of the first wood screw produced by the company in 1995: a screw with a special thread developed to avoid cracking or splintering the wood. Then Rocket was established as a brand in 2005. However, there are plenty of other brands available as well: Vynex, Bativis, CF Distribution, Ergox, Voltex and Atout. Trefilaction has already made a name for itself in France as a supplier of trading brands. The companies supplied include Leroy Merlin, Castorama, Brico Dépôt, Mr. Bricolage, Bricorama, Briconautes, La Boîte à Outils and Domaxel.Last year saw Trefilaction taken over by Pragma & CIC by means of a leveraged buyout. The group also acquired the adhesives producer Soudex. In 2006 group turnover amounted to € 75.5 mio. Fasteners accounted for the greater part of this turnover at 60 per cent, while other DIY products accounted for 29 per cent and miscellaneous hardware for 11 per cent. Apart from France, the group has a presence today in Spain, Portugal, Italy, Belgium, Greece, Switzerland, Hungary, Bulgaria and Romania. In the future it wants to reinforce its involvement in northern and eastern Europe above all. One of its goals is to become the leading consumer brand for fasteners in Europe.
