The International Hardware Fair/DIY’TEC 2002 recorded an increase in attendance figures again following last year’s decline in numbers. Including estimates for the last day of the fair, around 90 300 trade visitors from 123 countries came to Cologne this year, 40 600 of them from abroad. This means the proportion of foreign visitors amounts to 45 per cent. Overall there were 3 880 participating companies from 59 countries. According to information from Köln-Messe, the entire exhibition space of 286 000 m² was made use of. The positive mood caught by our editorial team corresponds with statements from the organisers, who have observed more optimism and a growing feeling of confidence.
