But it is not only the DIY retail sector that the products offered by the total of approximately 180 exhibitors will appeal to. The target group also includes hardware dealers, timber merchants and builders’ merchants. The fair concept has been modified over the past five years at the request of both exhibitors and visitors to enable it to fulfil the expectations of these target groups.
The exhibition space of 28 000 m² (around 12 500 m² net) will once again extend over five fair halls in this coming year. The products offered by the suppliers will be divided into seven main categories: decoration, electrical, tools, wood, hardware, plumbing and garden.
The areas of decoration, tools and wood alone represent 45 per cent of the fair’s total product offer, followed by plumbing, garden and miscellaneous (28 per cent). Significant growth is to be noted above all in the category of decoration, which is being put down to the enlarged range of décor items in DIY superstores, with which it is hoped to attract women customers in particular.
Seven product categories focusing on DIY will be on view at Kortrijk.
During the three-day event at the beginning of this current year around 6 600 visitors registered at the Kortrijk exhibition centre. According to a survey of visitors carried out by the organisers, 62 per cent intend to come again next year at any rate.
