Up to the end of November a total of about 170 exhibitors hader registered for the coming DIY fair in Kortrijk from 26 to 28 January 2003. There they will be presenting the entire spectrum of home improvement products, which will be divided into seven different product categories. These include decoration, electrical, tools, timber/building materials, hardware, plumbing and garden.
Over the course of the last few years the DIY sector has seen its range expand significantly.  As a result, the spectrum of products shown by the Belgian forum for the industry in Kortrijk has seen a corresponding expansion. The target group is equally diversified. It includes hardware dealers as well as representatives of the timber trade and builders’ merchants, plus experts from the DIY retail trade. This year’s event in January resulted in a total of 4 290 trade visitors attending over the three days of the fair. The organisers have come up with something new to interest visitors next year: an “Eyecatcher Parade”. This will be set up in a special pavilion and convey creative ideas to enable retailers to improve their customer appeal with the aim of emphasising such aspects as the merits of their own store and their campaigns. The organisers see the potential for improving communications with consumers in a closer cooperation between trading companies and suppliers. It is hoped that this framework will serve both groups as a basis for a positive exchange of experiences.
Kortrijk will be the meeting-place of the Belgian DIY sector from 26 to 28 January.
Another new feature will be the "ART & DIY" competition. This offers students the possibility to create a work of art making use of products that are typically used by DIYers. From the works entered in the competition a jury will select two, which will be displayed at the fair, to receive the awards.
