On 8 November, Japanese home improvement retailer DCM opened its first DCM DIY place near downtown Tokyo. According to DCM Holdings, the new initiative is primarily intended to promote DIY culture among downtown residents, rather than garner immediate sales. Press reports indicate that the new premises cover nearly 1,200 square metres (359.2 tsubo) and are located on the second floor of Centre Plaza in the Yebisu Garden Place complex.
In addition, DCM's first "DIY concierge," a staff member specialising in dispensing advice, will be on hand to help customers with any problems or DIY needs they may have.
