DIY stores in Austria increase sales by nearly 11 per cent

The boost which the pandemic caused for trade in DIY and garden assortments almost worldwide is also noticeable in Austria. Overall, the Austrian home improvement and garden store industry in Austria rose by 10.9 per cent (over a comparable area by 9.8 per cent) and achieved overall sales of EUR 2.97 bn in 2020. The industry association BHB, located in Germany, has published the figures.
Particularly in demand were the assortments furniture (+23.1 per cent), paint/painting supplies (+23.1 per cent) and tools/machines/workshop equipment (+20.7 per cent). Declines in 2020 were only recorded for the garden furniture assortment with a minus of 16.2 per cent.
