More exhibitors at Christmasworld
The exhibitor figures at Christmasworld have gone up: 1 043 companies displayed their products at the event, or 85 more than last year. The number of foreign exhibitors saw disproportionate growth of nine per cent for a total of 748. About 25 000 visitors made the trip to Frankfurt, half of them from abroad. It is already clear what the look for Christmas 2003 will be: “traditional, baroque, almost showily ornate”. At least, this is the trend that the organisers of the Christmasworld fair from 25 to 29 January 2003 determined in advance. The next Christmasworld will be held from 31 January to 4 February 2004.
Low-key expectations surpassed
A decline in visitor numbers was noted at Domotex in Hanover, which came to an end on 14 January, having been open for business over the preceding four days. According to information from Deutsche Messe, approximately 41 000 trade visitors attended the event. That figure was just on 42 900 a year ago. The proportion of visitors from abroad rose from 52.5 per cent to around 60 per cent. Summing up, the organisers state that the fair “achieved its goal and clearly surpassed subdued expectations within the industry”.
More international visitors
The organisers of Bau in Munich are satisfied with the results of their trade fair. The number of visitors, which came to around 180 000, actually declined by eight per cent. However, the exhibition company stresses that attendance by the 30 000 international visitors amounts to an increase of more than nine per cent. The number of visitors from outside Europe in particular was considerably higher. The next Bau event will be staged from 17 to 22 January 2005.
Attendance level on hold
Following the end of Heimtextil, held between 8 and 11 January 2003, the Frankfurt fair organisers pronounced themselves satisfied with the result. A total of 3 268 exhibitors came to this city on the river Main from 67 countries, 113 more than in 2002. Of the 89 500 trade visitors (compared with 90 000 in 2002), 42 500 or 8.7 per cent more than the previous year came from abroad. The number of German visitors to the fair went down by 6.8 per cent to a total of 47 000.
Brussels meeting for the industry
FEDIYMA, the Federation of the European DIY Manufacturers’ Associations, is inviting manufacturers and traders to its second European Forum on 17 and 18 September 2003. Like last September’s event, the congress will again be held in Brussels.
