A Japanese water garden in the centre of the garden centre.
Using Bellandris as its umbrella brand, the Baunatal-based Sagaflor/Sagazoo buying cooperative is planning the autumn launch of a new garden centre concept, which will entail the step-by-step conversion of the group’s “….einfach sagenhaft” (i.e. “…..simply fabulous”) stores to the new format. A first foretaste of this new participative concept, which is still at the planning stage, is offered by the 10 000 m² store opened by the Stanze company in Hannover on 1 March.
An aquarium is one of the eye-catching displays in the pet department.
The extensive glazing of the façade, which is visible from afar, conceals a greenhouse structure that permits a great amount of daylight to stream into the retail area. Garden, plants, pets, decoration and themed gastronomy are the five pillars of this new type of garden centre. The positioning of various product presentation areas, service counters and quiet zones is designed to make a shopping spree as attractive as possible to customers.
Modern display areas run through the whole store.
The store offers an unusually broad and deep selection in all product categories, beginning with plants for indoors and out, and continuing on to seeds, planters and lawnmowers. In the pet department, which covers around 1 500 m² and goes under the umbrella name of Zoo & Co., a diverse range of live animals awaits the customers in spacious sales facilities. Another unique feature in the centre of the store is the bistro “Fenzini”, where customers can expect a varied choice of dishes with an Italian flavour. Complementing the culinary experience is a literary corner with specialist books on botanical subjects, and a special area for the presentation of a variety of informative events. The bistro terrace leads into a Japanese atrium garden with a pondscape and exotic plants.
