Attendance figures showed that a total of 3 421 trade visitors came to the three-day exhibition, which offered a range of supporting events alongside the basic display of products.
The fair organiser and Imko-Opleidingen set up a big area where visitors could try out the latest products and techniques. They were also offered the opportunity to make their way through all the rooms of a house, from the ground floor right up to the very top. The organiser regards this initiative as most successful.
The first staging of DIY & Hardware attracted 3 421 trade visitors to Utrecht.
On the Monday afternoon the Karwei DIY chain staged a mini-congress on the subject of “Retail channels of the future”. The Karwei marketing prizes were also awarded during the event, the popularity of which was proved by the total of 160 participants.
Hall 11 provided the background for the “POP parade” created jointly by Mix and Popai. To be found there was entertainment for the visitors, as well as original presentations designed to increase sales in their own businesses. A specialist jury selected Fikszo as recipient of the prize for the best presentation.
For the fair organisers the first DIY & Hardware in Utrecht ended on a successful note. Which means the second edition is now assured for the year 2004.
