At yesterday's press conference, Hornbach announced record consolidated sales of EUR 5.9 billion for the 2021/22 financial year (1 March to 28 February 2022). This corresponds to year-on-year growth of 7.7 per cent across Europe. Hornbach's DIY stores generated growth of 7.4 per cent to EUR 5.496 billion, of which 4.8 per cent was generated in Germany (EUR 2.780 billion) and 10.3 per cent in the rest of Europe (EUR 2.715 billion). Like-for-like sales growth was 5.4 per cent.
"The second year of coronavirus was also a huge challenge for all of us. But the good news is that the trend towards focusing on the home has remained intact, even after restrictions were lifted again," Albrecht Hornbach, CEO of Hornbach Management AG, explained at the event. According to GfK figures, Hornbach increased its market share in Germany, the Netherlands, Austria and Switzerland in the past financial year, with its market share in Germany recently rising from 14.0 to 15.1 per cent.
The Group stated that demand for DIY and home improvement products would remain high in the 2022 spring season despite price increases in almost all product categories and unfavourable weather conditions in some areas of its sales region. For the current 2022/23 financial year, the management expects Group sales to be slightly above the level of the 2021/22 financial year.
