Hornbach puts logistics centre into operation near Vienna

Since 8 January 2018, the Hornbach DIY stores in Austria, Romania, the Czech Republic and Slovakia have been supplied with goods by the new cross-docking centre in Enzersdorf an der Fischa. It is the DIY store operator's fifth logistics centre after Essingen, Vilshofen, Lehrte and Soltau - and the first outside Germany.
"With this new logistics location we are significantly shortening the delivery routes and times for our stores in Central and Eastern Europe," explains Bernhard Dieckmann, head of group logistics. The company currently operates 156 DIY stores in nine countries in Europe. The new Hornbach logistics centre is a part of the Industrial Campus Vienna East, which is emerging in the immediate vicinity of the Viennese airport (Schwechat).
