Kingfisher has opened a new B&Q high street store with a sales area of around 500 m² in the Wood Green part of town to the north of London. The opening of B&Q Wood Green follows a series of smaller store openings reflecting the change in customer expectations for speed and convenience. "At Kingfisher, as part of our Powered by Kingfisher strategy, we are testing a number of new format stores across our banners, in the UK, France and Poland," was the statement posted on LinkedIn.
The product range consists of home improvement necessities including paint and paint mixing, decorating tools, power tools, décor and lighting, gardening products, houseplants, hardware and electrical and plumbing products. Customers will also have 20 000 products at their disposal via diy.com, where they can place an order for home delivery or click & collect, the company says.
The French Adeo Group already reported a further step in terms of small formats around a month ago. Leroy Merlin España has opened its first Express store. The first location in this format can be found in the capital of Madrid. The store has 4 000 SKUs in stock, a further 8 000 can be delivered within four hours when they are ordered in store.
