UK-based Kingfisher has delivered strong sales growth of 6.8 per cent and 7.3 per cent in both the 2021 and 2020 coronavirus years. Most recently, the retail brands active in Europe achieved sales of GBP 13.18 bn. Due to the weak performance of the euro against the UK currency, 2021 sales in euros grew exceptionally strongly to EUR 15.73 bn.
In a longer-term comparison, Kingfisher raised sales by 25.6 per cent in sterling between 2010 and 2021. In euros, growth was 28.6 per cent at the same time. At the end of 2021, Kingfisher operated 1,526 stores in eight European countries.
