Kingfisher’s like-for-like sales grow by 9.9 per cent

Like-for-like sales growth of almost 10 per cent has been reported by the UK-based Kingfisher Group for its 2021/2021 financial year (ending 31 January 2022). In total, the DIY retailer made sales of GBP 13.183 bn (EUR 15.723 bn), 6.8 per cent more than in the previous year. Adjusted for currency, the increase was 9.7 per cent; adjusted for currency and like-for-like, the increase was 9.9 per cent. E-commerce sales are 5.3 per cent above the previous year, but 171 per cent above the level of two years ago. Their share of total sales has increased by ten percentage points to 18 per cent.

In the United Kingdom and Ireland, turnover grew by 13.4 per cent (constant currency) to GBP 6.505 bn (EUR 7.758 bn). The Screwfix sales division (plus 14.3 per cent) grew somewhat more strongly than the B&Q stores (plus 12.7 per cent).

In contrast, the development of the two French sales divisions was less homogeneous: while Brico Dépôt increased its turnover by 12.5 per cent after currency adjustments, Castorama's growth rate was only 5.9 per cent. Together, this leaves a plus of 9.0 per cent to GBP 4.498 bn (EUR 5.365 bn).

Sales in Spain and Portugal increased by 23.8 per cent (GBP 366 mio, EUR 437 mio), and the growth rate in Romania was almost as high – 22.8 per cent (GBP 279 mio, EUR 333 mio). Stores in Poland made sales of GBP 1.525 bn (EUR 1.819 bn), up 5.0 per cent.
