LED pioneer

Ledvance now sees itself as a pioneer for LED lamps with casings and bulbs made of real glass. Ledvance offers an extensive product range and, according to company information, around half of this is made in Germany. 
The range of LED spots and many other LED lamp shapes with bulbs or casings in real glass is now a highly practical alternative to classic halogen lamps, some of which are no longer permitted to be placed on the market from 1 September according to the European Union. With regard to this, one of today's major trends is LED lamps becoming increasingly similar to their traditional role models, mainly in terms of design, materials, sizes and technical properties such as dimming behaviour.
A further visual highlight are LED filament lamps featuring luminous LED filaments that also do without a heat sink - on the face of it consisting of just a metal base and glass bulb. "LED filament is the strongest-growing segment at the moment, but our matt lamps without heat sinks are also very much in demand," explains Marc Gerster, head of DACH Retail Sales at Ledvance. "This is why, later in the lighting season, we'll be offering new campaign packages of our bestseller models without heat sinks."

The rapid development with equivalent models is also a result of EU policies: with the aim of removing energy consumption-relevant lamps step-by-step from the market, the EU ban affects high voltage reflector tungsten halogen lamps, the most important models of which can now be replaced virtually one-to-one by their LED equivalents. Since summer, Ledvance has even been offering LED filament products as gold-tinted vintage lamps in the form of the design-oriented Edition 1906 for particularly atmospheric light - and optionally dimmable.
Developments in the LED technology sector also create scope for completely new concepts. The latest innovation is lamps marketed under the eponymous motto of "create your scene", offering additional functions. "These allow consumers to very simply set up particular light scenes using inexpensive alternatives and without additional installations," enthuses Gerster.
