Company information reveals that the Praktiker DIY stores increased sales by 1.6 per cent to € 831.8 mio in the second quarter of 2005. Sales remained on the same level as last year in like-for-like terms. In Germany there was a 2.4 per cent decline in sales to € 618.8 mio (-2.6 per cent like-for-like). Sales of the Praktiker stores in eastern Europe rose by 16.3 per cent to € 197.0 mio, or +8.4 per cent like-for-like. The international share of sales went up from 22.6 to 25.6 per cent.
The Metro group achieved consolidated sales of € 27.24 bn in the first six months of 2005. This amounts to sales growth of 3.9 per cent, or 2.7 per cent at constant exchange rates.
