In the battle between the world's two largest home improvement retailers, Home Depot and Lowe's, second-placed Lowe's has achieved enormous sales growth of 136.8 per cent in the years between 2010 and 2021, but still less than industry leader Home Depot, which grew by around 172 per cent. This is the result of an evaluation by DIY International.

In terms of Lowe's, however, the sales growth in local currency still corresponds to more than a doubling within eleven years. Sales grew particularly strongly in the first year of the coronavirus pandemic in 2020, increasing by an enormous 24.2 per cent. In the second year of the pandemic, growth was 7.4 per cent. On average, the company has grown by around 8.2 per cent every year for the last eleven years. In comparison, its direct competitor on the North American continent, Home Depot, achieved average annual growth of 9.5 per cent. Between 2010 and 2019, Lowe's sales growth was 47.8 per cent. At the end of the last financial year 2021, sales amounted to USD 96.25 bn or approximately EUR 84.99 bn.
