The French DIY market grew by 10.2 per cent last year to a volume of EUR 34 bn. The DIY stores grew at an above-average rate of 11 per cent. With a total turnover of EUR 24.163 bn, they achieved a market share of 71 per cent. This includes EUR 1.281 bn that the DIY stores turned over in e-commerce. This online turnover has increased by 32 per cent compared to 2020 and in itself has a 4 per cent share of the total DIY market in France. These figures were published by the trade association FMB and the manufacturers' association Inoha.
The pure players of online retail now have a share of 11 per cent of the total market. Their turnover has risen by 7 per cent to EUR 3.840 bn. With a plus of 15 per cent, the specialised trade has grown significantly above the industry average; it has turned over EUR 4.833 bn with end consumers and thus has a market share of 14 per cent. Food retailing lost 8 per cent compared to the previous year and holds a market share of 4 per cent with EUR 1.217 bn.
