Hornbach, the German DIY group, has called an extraordinary general meeting for its holding company and public limited company on 24 April 2002, in order to elect a new supervisory board for each of the two organisations. The current members of the supervisory boards have resigned as of the commencement of the two meetings. The reason for this action is the entry on the scene of Kingfisher in November 2001. As a result, Sir Geoffrey Mulcahy, chief executive of Kingfisher, and Helen Weir, group finance director, will be nominated as members of the supervisory board of Hornbach Holding. One representative from Kingfisher is also to be given a seat on the supervisory board of the Baumarkt AG. The nominee here is William John Whiting, chief executive of B&Q.
