The European fair for Asian products, Asia Pacific Sourcing, will be staged in Cologne from 4 – 6 March. Around 700 companies are expected to participate this year, amounting to 150 more than at the premiere two years ago. On the gross exhibition space of 32 000 m² in Hall 11 they will be displaying their range of products from the categories of hardware and DIY (tools, locks and fittings, do-it-yourself, hardware and fastening technology), garden and leisure (outdoor furniture and equipment, barbecues, camping, sports articles and toys, and leisure items) and ambience (glass, porcelain, ceramics, table décor, lighting and giftware). Domestic appliances of all kinds will be introduced for the first time. Over the three days of the fair Koelnmesse expects 9 000 visitors to attend the event. They are being offered a special deal: free admission for visitors who pre-register online (www.asiapacificsourcing.de). There will for the first time be two specialist congresses running in parallel with the fair. Here experts will be focusing on their special knowledge of the Far East, while also providing information on topics of general interest to the industry.Scheduled for 5 March in the Congress Centre East will be the first “Sourcing Asia” workshop. To be found on the agenda of this event will be basic information for the business of sourcing from the Far East, new distribution concepts in the interaction of the European and Asian markets, and new procurement routes, as well as presentations on quality standards and certificates plus “best practice” reports. There is no charge for participation.Cross-company processes and marketing in the non-food sector – that will be the focus of the first GS1 Non Food Conference, which will be held in parallel with Asia Pacific Sourcing on 5 and 6 March 2007, also in the Congress Centre East. The leading organisations in the German industry (BHB, Bau und DIY and IVG) are participating in the event. Topics such as Consumer Relationship Management or Buying and Category Management will be on the agenda, along with others that include the field of Far East logistics.
