German home improvement stores will increase their sales by 3.2 per cent to EUR 23.00 bn this year. This was the forecast issued by market researcher Klaus Peter Teipel at the 20th International BHB Congress today in Wiesbaden. "Home improvement stores are on a steady, positive track," stated Teipel. He stressed the "positive underlying trend" in the sector, especially when compared with the market as a whole, which only grew by 1.4 per cent to EUR 247.9 bn. E-commerce in the DIY and garden sector is likely to increase by 8.8 per cent in 2019 to EUR 3.993 bn. The market share of the DIY store chains is 21.4 per cent.
