Switzerland: Coop's DIY sales up 36.6 per cent in 2021

The Swiss retail group Coop increased its DIY sales by 36.6 per cent last year. Its two store chains Coop Bau + Hobby and Jumbo reported net sales of CHF 948 mio (EUR 903 mio). Coop, the market leader in Swiss DIY retail, acquired Jumbo, the number two, last year. Coop Bau + Hobby's 2020 turnover was CHF 694 mio (EUR 642 mio at the time), while Jumbo's 2020 turnover was estimated at around CHF 600 mio (EUR 515 mio at the time). On 1 December 2021, Coop and its 124 DIY stores joined the German cooperative Hagebau. The total number of stores at the end of 2021 is given as 113.
