The US chain Tractor Supply increased its sales in the second quarter by 13.4 per cent compared with the same period in the previous year to USD 3.60 bn (EUR 3.03 bn). Comparable sales growth was 10.5 per cent compared with the second quarter of 2020 and 41.0 per cent compared with the same period in 2019. The increase in comparable store sales was driven by robust growth in everyday merchandise, including consumable, usable and edible products, and solid demand for spring and summer seasonal categories, according to the company.
In addition, the retailer experienced a record sales quarter in its e-commerce business, although no detailed information on this was released. During the second quarter of 2021, the company opened eleven new Tractor Supply stores and one new Petsense store. It closed four Petsense stores.
Net sales for the first six months of 2021 increased by 24.5 per cent to USD 6.39 bn (EUR 5.39 bn). Comparable store sales increased by 21.2 per cent.
Tractor Supply is positioned as the largest rural lifestyle retailer in the United States.
