The overall Turkish market for windows and doors, together with frames and flashing systems, will achieve a volume of around US $ 220 mio (€ 188 mio) in the year 2003 (compared with US $ 200 mio or € 171 mio in 2002), according to calculations made by the BFAI (the German Federal Agency for External Trade). It is expected that domestic production will amount to a volume of approx. US $ 250 mio (€ 214 mio) in the year 2003. Products to the value of approx. US $ 50 mio (€ 43 mio) go for export. Imports come to a volume of US $ 17 mio (€ 15 mio). Wood, which has always traditionally been used for windows and doors in Turkey, is to some degree being replaced by other materials like aluminium and PVC.
