The British DIY store chain Wickes increased its sales last year by a total of 7.7 per cent and by 8.7 per cent on a like-for-like basis. This has been announced by the parent group Travis Perkins in a capital markets presentation; the group wants to list Wickes on the stock market as separate public limited company. In the core business, which focuses on local trade and DIY, an increase of 5.7 per cent was gained, this was 12.8 per cent in the do-it-for-me field.
Travis Perkins is not naming any absolute sales figures for Wickes, however states that sales per square foot were around GBP 200 in the year 2019. Currently, 235 stores belong to the chain with an average interior retail space of around 2 800 m². Only twelve locations are said to be oversized.
