The German DIY store operator Bauhaus is no longer procuring products from Russia or Belarus. The company has published a statement to this effect on its Spanish website in March. It states: "The current humanitarian and war crisis in Ukraine, caused by the aggression of the Russian and Belarusian governments, which is causing great human suffering, as well as the displacement of the civilian population, are completely opposed to the values of peace and dignity that we at Bauhaus defend. Bauhaus cannot stand still in the face of the suffering of the Ukrainian citizens, which is why we will refrain from supplying any more products originating from the Russian Federation (Russia) and the Republic of Belarus (Belarus). This decision applies to deliveries to all BAUHAUS companies in Europe and Turkey."
Spain is the only country where Bauhaus is in direct competition with Leroy Merlin. This French chain is currently under criticism for maintaining its involvement in Russia and continuing to operate more than 110 stores there. Bauhaus does not operate any stores in Russia.
