Expansion eastward

Praktiker is concentrating its thoughts on entering the Russian market, where the plan is to have more than 15 outlets in the areas around Moscow and St. Petersburg. And the Metro subsidiary intends to open up Bulgaria as yet another new country ready for development. Further expansion is also on the cards for the states where the group already has a presence. This includes the setting up of new outlets in urban areas of Poland. There are concrete plans for branches in the Greek cities of Athens and Saloniki for the year 2003. What is more, new stores are also being planned for Luxembourg and Hungary – one or two outlets here.
