Trade fair organisers in Germany now see greater potential in the garden and plant sphere. In conjunction with the consumer goods fairs Christmasworld, Paperworld and Creativeworld, Floradecora was thus staged for the first time in Frankfurt at the end of January and featured fresh flowers and ornamental plants. The organiser, Messe Frankfurt, has now announced its intention to organise a special Outdoor Living exhibition in an outdoor area as part of Tendence, which has been moved forward from August to June as of this year. At this event garden furniture and accessories will be displayed together with plants for the patio and garden.
43 233 visitors (17 690 from Germany and 25 543 from abroad) travelled to Frankfurt from 110 countries for Christmasworld and Floradecora in January. This equated to an increase of 9.7 per cent compared with Christmasworld 2016, when no Floradecora was staged. A total of 1 070 exhibitors from 42 countries presented their new products and decorative trends, with Floradecora hosting 67 exhibitors from six countries. More than 10 700 visitors to the three shows Christmasworld, Paperworld and Creativeworld also paid a visit to Floradecora over four days.
The leading fair for horticulture and for flowers and decorative plants is the International Plant Fair IPM in Essen. With around 57 000 trade visitors it maintained its figures from the previous year, while the number of exhibitors, who came from 45 countries, also remained virtually on a par with the previous year (1 588) at 1 577.
