A total of 3 718 suppliers from 59 countries presented their product ranges, which means that there were only about 100 fewer firms than the previous year. Nevertheless, a disproportionate amount of space remained unoccupied, compared with last year’s event. The degree of internationality was extremely high on the exhibitor side: over three quarters of the exhibiting companies came from abroad. Exhibitors who managed to invite buyers and potential business partners to their stand in advance of the show were more than usually satisfied with the results. Events held on individual stands also attracted numerous visitors, to the advantage of suppliers on neighbouring stands as well.
But negative voices could also be heard on the exhibitor side. These expressed their dissatisfaction with the result of their presence at the fair, not least because the number of visitors was down considerably this year.
Köln-Messe registered
68 000 trade visitors over the four days of the fair, with over 50 per cent coming from abroad. Practical World was adversely affected by the difficult global economic situation and the still-unresolved Irak conflict. Despite all, though, there was still quite a crowd of visitors, particularly in Hall 5.
World of Tools
Innovations in the area of tools are characterised by solutions adapted to practical requirements. The international tool sector is going for innovation through the well-targeted use of electronic intelligence, design and a high level of quality. The cordless tools segment is enjoying fresh impetus through its advance into improved performance dimensions. Aspects of user convenience, along with safety and functional criteria, also provide innovative momentum. Although the leading suppliers of power tools were not represented at the show, they are expected to attend next year’s event.
Security systems
A thinning-out of the product offer in the World of Security, Locks and Fittings was evident. However, Hall 13 should be fully occupied again next year. The suppliers in this area found the results “better than expected on account of the difficult initial situation”.
The products displayed in the section confirm that the exhibiting companies are continuing to invest in research and development, despite the tight cost situation. Alongside…
