Hornbach now with seven stores in Switzerland

The German DIY store chain Hornbach has now opened its seventh store in Switzerland. The location in Affoltern am Albis covers Greater Zurich as catchment area. As the 32 000 m² plot of land would otherwise not have been large enough, it was decided for the first time to build an underground car park in order to be able to provide sufficient parking space. For the same reason, the store doesn't offer a drive-in either, but a materials supply warehouse instead.
The retail space is around 12 000 m². The company has invested CHF 50 mio in the new DIY store. The development of the location took an extremely long time, even by Swiss standards. The plot of land had already been found in 2005. The next opening could take place in 2019 or 2020.
