The coronavirus prompted the cancellation first of Ambiente and then also of the International Consumer Goods Show into which it was to be merged, together with Christmasworld and Paperworld, as a one-off in 2021. Retail buyers and manufacturers are thus facing the problem of how to prepare for the coming year and demand related to home living and décor without the aid of leading trade shows.
Now Messe Frankfurt intends to lend them a hand with Ambiente Trends 2021. Available online and as a download, this trend guide presents the trends that are currently shaping the global consumer goods sector and looks at which needs are gaining importance within the four walls of the home. It aims to offer orientation and inspiration with three trend themes curated by the design studio Stilbüro bora.herke.palmisano.
How do people want to live in times when home living is more important than ever? What trend forecasts can be derived from this? These are questions to which buyers and manufacturers will find answers on the Ambiente Trends 2021 microsite at www.ambiente-trends.com.
Presented with resonating titles, in this case "emotional. love of home", "continual. related to nature" and "renewal. notion of redo", the three trends are described as follows:"Emotional. love of home" is a trend that puts the focus on the home, safety and security. Here, velvety-warm vintage colours such as peach, blush, washed-out forget-me-not blue, nude and nectar yellow create a familiar and soothing living environment and a place to which people like to retreat for a wide variety of activities - from working at home, online yoga class to dinner in an intimate atmo­sphere.
"Continual. related to nature" is all about alternative materials that make the home feel close to nature. Coarse fabrics, painterly glazes or deliberately imperfect surfaces give a rugged appearance yet are perfectly crafted. The palette in this living theme ranges from a strong moss tone to earthy browns and greys to vegetative greens.
"Renewal. notion of redo" stands for a spirit of departure: redesigning, upgrading, trying out new ideas. With a DIY attitude and the staging of familiar materials in a way never seen before, the trend invites you to engage in new perspectives. The colour…
