Soudal, the Belgian manufacturer of chemicals for the building sector, sees itself as a specialist supplier capable of solving all its customers’ problems in a particular field
The spectrum of consumer products is broad and includes PU foams, sealants, adhesives and fillers as well as automotive products, a programme of protection for roofs and walls, a plumbing programme and cleaning agents.
Soudal offers a broad range of building chemicals and related products for the DIY market.
The company generates 99 per cent of turnover – 121.5 mio euro (BFR 4.9 bn) in 1999 – through its own products manufactured at plants in Turnhout (B), Lyons (F) and Leverkusen (D). Soudal’s management states emphatically that the company is neither a “packager” of foreign products, nor a through station for external merchandise. On the contrary, its manufacturing operations involve tailor-made products for quite a heterogeneous target group. The company also has a systematic product development policy based on a thorough analysis of customer requirements.
There is a firm conviction at head office that its overall marketing mix offers the potential for enormous logistical savings, which applies to supplier and customer alike.
