In 1997 Komfort succeeded in strengthening its market position in Poland by the acquisition of the m3 stores belonging to the group’s Belgian competitor. Komfort is going for large-format stores with the m3 brand, being convinced that customers prefer to do their shopping in large outlets with a wide range of products. Two of the current total of eleven m3 stores have a retail area in excess of 8 000 m² (Gdansk and Szczecin). These outlets offer a broader range of products altogether, rather like that available in a typical DIY store, though with the emphasis on the decorative side.
