Between 16 and 18 September 20 051 visitors were recorded in total, a twelve per cent increase on last year when the numbers went down by 15 per cent as the result of a fuel crisis. The proportion of international visitors was 7.4 per cent this year (2000: 8.5 per cent). Around 1 200 exhibitors from 24 countries displayed their products at the event.
The meeting-place for industry representatives from all over the world was the International Visitor Centre. Presented here was an overview of the products on offer, which served as an aid to buyers in getting their bearings at the fair.
It was particularly clear from the hall occupied by exhibitors of motorised garden equipment that good use was being made of this service offered by the fair organisers: on record there were 59 per cent more visitors than the previous year. Exhibitors in the categories of outdoor leisure and nurseries/plants also reported good results.
According to the organisers, this year’s Glee experienced a powerful boost in the pet products category. And an innovation was announced for this sector as well: Next year will see the integration of Petindex, the London pet trade fair, into Glee.
The motorised equipment hall saw 59 per cent more vi-sitors on record than last year.
Proof that the exhibition has its loyal visitors is provided by the fact that 80 per cent of buyers come again year after year. Glee will be open for business from 15 to 17 September in 2002.
