Ready for international visitors

06.02.2006

The organisers have announced that GLEE, the international garden and leisure exhibition, will have 22 per cent more exhibitors on record in September

The fair will be held at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) in Birmingham from 17 to 19 September. It is expected that 1 300 exhibitors will occupy an exhibition space of 56 000 m².
On view there will be products from the United Kingdom and the latest developments from Europe: greenhouse design from Holland, wooden products from Poland, furniture from Sweden, outdoor barbecues from Germany.
Most sections of the fair will be bigger this year: Nursery @ GLEE, the plant sector, can point to a 30 per cent increase in floorspace over last year. The same is true of the expanded Petcare @ GLEE sector, which is enjoying growing popularity.
These and other sections are what give GLEE its reputation as the “showcase for new products from the garden and leisure industry”. The new products stand in Hall 4 will once again be a major starting point for buyers and will also make it easier for visitors to pick out the new products and identify the exhibitors at GLEE.
The first announcements are already coming in about new products from Unwins (pea seeds), Franklin Dee Enterprises (rotating planting system), Interpet (aquarium products), Bridgman (garden furniture), Henri Studio (water in the garden), Samsons (wrought iron products), Metpost (fence posts and fencing), Burgon & Ball (hanging baskets), Datesand (water-storing granules) and Forest Fencing (solar operated garden products).
THF @ GLEE, the section covering hardware and DIY products, will this year be situated in Hall 5. On display there will be new products for the DIY market, e.g. self-adhesive stickers for windows and walls (from Peely Products) or walling systems using a new connecting technique (Keybrick Walling System).
Last year 21 300 visitors came to the NEC in Birmingham, ten per cent of them from abroad. This year’s attendance figures are expected to be even higher. Overseas trade visitors are offered free entry to the fair, as well as a free catalogue and an export handbook. International buyers are entitled to use the facilities in the expanded international visitor centre which is positioned in Hall 5 and organised jointly by Gardenex and British Trade International.
