In Switzerland, DIY stores ended the first half of 2021 with sales growth of 17.9 per cent to CHF 2.15 bn (EUR 2.00 bn). In the first quarter of the year, they saw growth of 46.2 per cent (first quarter: +46.1 per cent, second quarter: +3.6 per cent), according to BHB, the German industry association. The first half of 2020 was characterised by long lockdowns. The ranges exhibiting the highest growth in 2021 include plants (+31.3 per cent) and timber (+26.8 per cent).
